School and Community Projects

I don’t offer specific discounts for school and community projects, unless they are large scale projects, but I can help you select appropriate species for your soil, water and sunlight conditions and other requirements like maximum plant height.

For limited size projects, especially ones with planting bed dimensions up to 10’x’20, I can also arrange the seedlings into plant trays with things like their heights, bloom seasons and species compatibility in mind so that that on planting day they can be removed from the trays and placed directly in their planting locations without having to read from a planting plan and match seedlings with species names. This can significantly simplify and speed up the planting day activities.
School Planting Project
These seedlings are arranged into their trays before being planted into seven rectangular raised beds by school children creating a native pollinator garden. The plants were selected for a sunny setting, a long bloom season and to include several host species for butterflies.
Each cell represents a one square foot space in the planting beds. A tray of Wild Strawberries was also included for planting along the edges of the beds as a groundcover below the taller species.
Community Planting Project
These three trays of small plugs were put together for planting islands in a parking area. They were selected for their tolerance of hot, sunny growing conditions and a long blooming season. They were arranged in the trays to allow spaces for existing utility poles, spaces for some plants already on site (represented by the labels in the trays) and to place low growing species anywhere where lines of sight needed to be maintained for safety.
