~More coming along for the August 30th sale~
Symphyotrichum ciliolatum
Lindley's Aster
- Full sun to partial shade
- Average to moderately dry soils.
- 36” to 48” tall, spreading to form a patch
- Late summer and fall blooming
- Ontario Native, Meadow or open woodland species
Still new to me, grown from seeds from the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library
Online information about this species, beyond identification tips, seems to be a bit sparse but as far as I’ve been able to find it seems that they have a growth pattern and growing preferences similar to Panicled Aster (Symphyotrichum lanceolatum), which means a fair amount of adaptability, paired with a capacity to spread quite vigorously.
Companion species would be most meadow grasses, other Asters and Goldenrods, as well as lower growing species like Wild Strawberry.
