Broad-leaved Chasmanthium or Northern Sea Oats

Average to moderately high moisture soils
Best in part shade but will tolerate full sun with sufficient moisture
3’ tall, 1’ to 2’ spread
Summer blooming, seed heads into the fall
Native to Ontario, beginner friendly, open woodland forest and high moisture (but not flooded) ecosystems

A clump forming grass that can spread, mostly by seed, to form a large patch if space allows. Their wide bladed foliage, arching stems and dangling seeds create a string visual effect in semi-shaded gardens.
