The Native Plant Store can Now be Found Here

  • This page will remain accessible as a library page until I have all the species moved to the new page and all the quirks worked out in the new software so it can function as a searchable library.
  • Please see the Using the Plant Library  page  for some tips on how to make the most of the information in this existing library to select species for creating a healthy native plant community suited to the conditions of your site.

~ Silene regia, Royal Catchfly

~Sold out for 2023~

Silene regia

Royal Catchfly

  • Full sun to dappled shade
  • Average to slightly dry soils
  • 48” tall
  • Summer blooming
  • Native to the mid west, their historical range does not extend into Ontario.

New to me this year, grown from seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery https://www.prairiemoon.com/silene-regia-royal-catchfly-prairie-moon-nursery.html

The intensely orangish-red flowers, which are known to attract hummingbirds, and easy adaptation to garden settings are the reasons that I’m growing this species, even though they aren’t historically native to this province.

Please check out the Prairie Moon listing at the link above for more details.
