The Native Plant Store can Now be Found Here

  • This page will remain accessible as a library page until I have all the species moved to the new page and all the quirks worked out in the new software so it can function as a searchable library.
  • Please see the Using the Plant Library  page  for some tips on how to make the most of the information in this existing library to select species for creating a healthy native plant community suited to the conditions of your site.

Galium concinnum, Shining Bedstraw

~The seedlings that grew from these Prairie Moon seeeds look far too much like Smooth bedstraw, an invasive cousin, for me to be comfortable offering them again. I'm continuing to offer Northern Bedstraw instead~

Galium concinnum

Shining Bedstraw

  • Average to Dry Soils
  • Partial to full Shade
  • 24” tall, 12” to 18” spacing
  • Early Summer Blooms
  • Ontario Native, Thrives in Open Woodland and Forest Ecosystems

Grown from seeds sourced from Prairie Moon Nursery.

Growing to around 2' in height, I'm looking forward to adding this species to the gardens and meadows that I tend, where I suspect they will create habitat and food in the spaces between the taller and sturdier species, while also adding the same softening effect that Baby's Breath adds to bouquets.

Please check out the Prairie Moon listing at the link above for more details.
