Scrophularia marilandica, Carpenter's Figwort

Scrophularia marilandica

Carpenter's Figwort

  • Full sun to full shade
  • Average to moderatly dry soil
  • Grows to 6' in height and 2' to 3' wide
  • Garden, meadow and woodland settings

A very popular nectar provider for native bees in the mid to late summer, this is an adaptable species that is a very worthwhile addition to pollinator gardens. Their small flower appear in late June and continue for several weeks and are followed by a sturdy seed head in te same form as the blooms that holds up well into the fall or winter in my experience.

They thrive in a range of growing conditions, including dry soils and shade.

I will be offering plug sized plants for $1.25 each or 5 for $5.

I'm in the process of adding species that I expect to offer this spring to the listings since they are starting to germinate and I'm starting to get an idea of which will be available in abundant quantities.

Since the list is much longer this year I've added several categories to help narrow down your options based on a variety of criteria.

For those who have already adopted seedlings, planting instructions can be found here.
