Potentilla supina, Bushy Cinquefoil

Potentilla supina (also known as Potentilla paradoxa)

Bushy Cinquefoil

  • Annual or Biennial
  • Prefers sandy soils with plenty of available moisture (shorelines)
  • Grows 4” to 12” tall and spreads horizontally 12” to 30”
  • Summer blooming
  • Native to Ontario, May not adapt well to garden conditions.

New to me this year, grown from seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery https://www.prairiemoon.com/potentilla-paradoxa-bushy-cinquefoil-prairie-moon-nursery.html

This is a low growing, spreading species that is most likely to be found on beaches and shorelines. I’m curious to find out how adaptable they are to garden and container settings as part so I though I’d give them a try.

Please check out the Prairie Moon listing at the link above for more details.

The Online Plant Nursery will re-open for orders on Tuesday, May 17th

Pickups will begin the following week.

I will be offering plug sized plants for $1.25 each or 5 for $5.

I'm in the process of adding species that I expect to offer this spring to the listings since they are starting to germinate and I'm starting to get an idea of which will be available in abundant quantities.

Since the list is much longer this year I've added several categories to help narrow down your options based on a variety of criteria.

For those who have already adopted seedlings, planting instructions can be found here.
