Eutrochium purpureum, Sweet Joe Pye Weed

Eutrochium purpureum

Sweet Joe Pye Weed

  • Average to high moisture soils
  • Sun to shade, thrives in dappled shade.
  • 4’ to 7’ tall, 3’ to 4’ wide
  • Mid to late summer blooms
  • Native to Ontario, Beginner friendly, Woodland and wet meadow ecosystems

New to me this year, grown from seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery https://www.prairiemoon.com/eupatorium-purpureum-sweet-joe-pye-weed-prairie-moon-nursery.html

Like most of this family, these are very large plants that attract a lot of pollinator species in mid to late summer. More shade tolerant than Spotted Joe-Pye-Weed, this is the one to plant if you have a location that receives dappled sun all day or shade in the afternoon.

Please check out the Prairie Moon listing at the link above for more details.
