~ Echinacea pallida, Pale Purple Coneflower

Echinacea pallida

Pale Purple Coneflower

  • Average to very dry soils
  • Full Sun or very light shade
  • 36” tall, 10” to 18” wide
  • Mid summer blooming
  • Beginner Friendly, Meadow or Dry Meadow ecosystems

With a historical range that includes the mid west prairie ecosystems, Echinaceas are introduced in Ontario but are both extremely well adapted to garden conditions and hugely popular with local pollinator species.

Slightly earlier blooming than their cousins Echinacea purpurea, this Coneflower has a distinctive texture, with narrow, drooping flower petals and narrow, rough leaves. They thrive in hot, dry settings and are loved by bees and butterflies, as well as by seed feeding bird species.

Pickups will begin the following week.

I will be offering plug sized plants for $1.25 each or 5 for $5.

I'm in the process of adding species that I expect to offer this spring to the listings since they are starting to germinate and I'm starting to get an idea of which will be available in abundant quantities.

Since the list is much longer this year I've added several categories to help narrow down your options based on a variety of criteria.

For those who have already adopted seedlings, planting instructions can be found here.
