Campanula rotundifolia, Bluebell of Scotland

Campanula rotundifolia

Giesecke's Bellflower

  • Average to dry soils -Happy in rock niches, especially limestone
  • Full sun to light shade
  • 12” tall, 6” to 8” spread
  • Early summer blooming, with sporadic reblooming
  • Native to Ontario, beginner friendly, open meadow and rock garden settings

New to me this year, grown from seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery https://www.prairiemoon.com/campanula-rotundifolia-harebell-prairie-moon-nursery.html

After many botanical name iterations, these are once again officially Campanula rotundifolia according to VASCAN and are considered to be native throughout Canada.

These lovely, apparently delicate, plants don’t handle competition for space well, but can thrive in rock niches and garden areas where they aren’t overwhelmed by more rambunctious neighbours.

Please check out the Prairie Moon listing at the link above for more details.

The Online Plant Nursery will re-open for orders on Tuesday, May 17th

Pickups will begin the following week.

I will be offering plug sized plants for $1.25 each or 5 for $5.

I'm in the process of adding species that I expect to offer this spring to the listings since they are starting to germinate and I'm starting to get an idea of which will be available in abundant quantities.

Since the list is much longer this year I've added several categories to help narrow down your options based on a variety of criteria.

For those who have already adopted seedlings, planting instructions can be found here.
