Agastache nepetoides, Yellow Giant Hyssop

Agastache nepetoides

Yellow Giant Hyssop

  • Average to moderately dry or moderately wet soils
  • Full Sun, light shade
  • 5’ to 6’ tall, 18” to 24” wide
  • Late Summer to Fall Blooming
  • Ontario Native Species, Beginner friendly, thrives in Meadow, Open woodland and Dry meadow ecosystems.

Still new to my garden (last year’s seedlings are still small) I’ve started some for this spring with seeds from the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library.

Like most, if not all, Agastaches these are very popular with pollinators offering a very long blooming season in later summer with plentiful nectar for bees and butterflies preparing for travel or overwintering.

Recommended for dappled shade settings, these will also do well in full sun if sufficient moisture is available. A large species for the back of a garden border, as a focal point or as part of a tall meadow community.

The Online Plant Nursery will re-open for orders on Tuesday, May 17th

Pickups will begin the following week.

I will be offering plug sized plants for $1.25 each or 5 for $5.

I'm in the process of adding species that I expect to offer this spring to the listings since they are starting to germinate and I'm starting to get an idea of which will be available in abundant quantities.

Since the list is much longer this year I've added several categories to help narrow down your options based on a variety of criteria.

For those who have already adopted seedlings, planting instructions can be found here.
